Fillers and facial contouring

A face changes with age for more than one reason: fat pads shift and the contour loses definition. Filler restores volume where it has gone.

from €250 Duration: 90 min

What it is and when it is needed

We use hyaluronic acid fillers of different densities depending on the area — firmer ones for structural support and contour, softer ones for superficial areas.

This is not a skin tightening treatment; it restores volume. If the problem is laxity rather than lost volume, filler will not solve it, and we will say so at the consultation.

  • The type and amount are chosen by the doctor for the area and your anatomy.
  • A hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved if needed.
  • We work gradually: twice with less is often better than once with too much.

Who it is for

This addresses volume and contour. Expression lines are treated by another method and skin quality by a third; they are often combined, and the doctor draws up that plan.

  • Nasolabial folds.
  • An indistinct jawline.
  • Chin shape and proportion.
  • Loss of volume over the cheekbones.
  • Under-eye hollowing, where it is caused by lost volume.

How it goes

  1. Consultation

The doctor assesses facial proportions and explains which areas will make the most difference. The plan is for the whole face, not one line.

  2. Anaesthetic 15–20 min

Anaesthetic cream; most fillers also contain lidocaine.

  3. The procedure 30–45 min

The filler is placed with a needle or a cannula — a cannula is often chosen where reducing the risk of bruising matters.

  4. Review

After two weeks we assess the result and adjust if needed.

Results

The change in volume is visible immediately, but part of what you see in the first days is swelling. The result is judged at about two weeks.

How long it lasts varies by person and by area: mobile areas consume filler faster than static ones. When to repeat is discussed at the review.

Aftercare

For the first days the point is to let the filler settle where it was placed.

  • Do not massage the face for 24 hours unless the doctor told you otherwise.
  • Avoid saunas, sunbeds and hard exercise for two days.
  • Sleep on your back for the first nights if you can.
  • Bruising and mild swelling are normal and pass within a few days.
  • Contact us immediately if you get severe pain, blanching of the skin or any change in vision.

Contraindications

Some of these are temporary. The final decision is the doctor’s at the consultation, having reviewed your history and medication.

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
  • Inflammation, infection or broken skin in the intended area.
  • An active cold sore in the treatment area.
  • Allergy to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine.
  • Autoimmune disease and clotting disorders — assessed individually.
  • Previous permanent or unidentified fillers in the same areas — you must tell the doctor.

Common questions

Will my face look "done"?

That depends on the amount and the plan. A natural result usually comes from working gradually rather than doing everything at once.

How is this different from botulinum toxin?

Filler restores volume; botulinum toxin reduces muscle pull. Different problems — sometimes combined.

Will I bruise?

Possibly, especially in mobile areas. It passes within a few days, so it is better not to plan an important event that week.

Can filler be removed?

Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed. That is precisely why we use them.

How long does the result last?

It depends on the area and the material. The doctor will give you a realistic interval for your case at the consultation.
