Tightening without surgery
This tightens tissue and sharpens the contour, but it does not replace surgery. It suits early and moderate laxity; where there is a lot of loose skin the change will be small.
What it is and when it is needed
Energy — ultrasound or radiofrequency — heats the deeper layers in a controlled way. Collagen contracts and the body then produces new collagen, so the tissue tightens gradually.
The effect accumulates slowly. There may be an immediate sensation, but the real result forms over 2–3 months as collagen reorganises.
- This is not a facelift and does not replace one.
- It works best where laxity is mild to moderate.
- The result is temporary: tissue keeps ageing, so it is repeated about once a year.

The method suits early and moderate laxity. Where there is marked excess skin the result will be small — we will tell you that at the consultation, before anything is planned.

Results
Mild redness and tenderness are possible immediately; there is sometimes a short-lived feeling of tightness, which is not the final result.
The real change shows over 2–3 months as new collagen forms. It is temporary and individual: it depends on age, skin condition and lifestyle.
Aftercare
Little special care is needed, but the weeks afterwards matter for collagen formation.
- Avoid saunas, hot baths and hard exercise for a day.
- No harsh acids or scrubs for a few days.
- Use SPF daily.
- Tenderness or a pulling sensation for a few days is a normal reaction.
- Drink enough water and go easy on the sun for the next month.
Contraindications
Some of these are temporary. The doctor decides after examining you.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Implanted electronic devices (a pacemaker) — for radiofrequency treatments.
- Metal implants in the intended area — assessed individually.
- Active infection, inflammation or broken skin in the area.
- Recent fillers or threads in the same area — an interval is needed.
- Cancer, uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune disease — assessed individually.
Common questions
Does this replace a facelift?
No. It tightens tissue but does not remove excess skin. With marked laxity the result will be small, and we will say so at the consultation.
When will I see the result?
Over 2–3 months, as new collagen forms. Judging it straight after the appointment tells you nothing.
Does it hurt?
You feel heat and brief prickling, stronger over bone. Say if it is uncomfortable — the settings can be adjusted.
How often should it be repeated?
Usually about once a year, depending on age and tissue condition.
Can it be combined with fillers?
Yes, but the order and the intervals matter — the doctor draws up the plan.
